As an acting conservatory and college, we see talented and motivated graduating high school seniors from around the country. When they speak about their high school drama departments and teachers, we hear two main themes—life-changing support and teaching, and very limited budgets. We have launched the Your Start in the Arts Grant Program to support high school theater and drama departments. Each year, during National Arts & Humanities Month, The New York Conservatory will take nominations for the distribution of (5) $1,000 grants.
How It Works
Starting on October 16, students and alumni will be able to nominate their high school drama department for a $1,000 grant by completing the nomination form. We will accept nominations until November 30, 2018 at 11:59pm EST.
Once the nominations close, a panel of New York Conservatory actor-faculty will convene to read the submissions. The panel will vote for the 5 most compelling cases for support.
Grant winners will be notified by email and announced on January 7, 2018. We will ask each winning department to provide us with some background about their school and drama department, and a quote for our press materials.
Upon receipt of these items, grant checks will be mailed to the contact person in the drama department.
