Study the Business and the Craft of Acting
Your instructors at The New York Conservatory are all experienced actors and directors that know the path you want to travel, because they've been down it themselves. They know how to move through today's entertainment industry, and they will help you make a personalized plan to reach your career goals.
Our admissions advisers will even help you through each stage of the visa and admissions process - though the sooner you start that process, the better.
NYCDA offers 2-years acting degree programs. That means you’re not just attending an acting school, you’re going to acting college. You'll receive thorough training in:
• The Meisner Technique – A time-tested methodology that helps you build characters and performances that audiences will find believable.
• Movement for Actors – How to literally be in the right place at the right time on a stage or movie set, without distracting from the scene.
• Voice and Speech – The skill of projecting your voice and being understood by the audience.
• Acting as a Business – How to navigate the entertainment industry as an actor, including how to behave at auditions and casting calls, and how to promote yourself to keep your career going after that first acting job.
Plus, we offer elective classes that teach skills like voice-over, improv, stage combat, or internet video – see the full curriculum for our Degree Programs.
