Welcome to The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts!  We understand that deciding how and where to pursue your professional acting career is one of life’s biggest decisions.  We offer an individualized and collaborative learning experience to realize your potential and transform you from a student into an actor who works. We believe the sooner you can start your career, the better.

In the conservatory environment, you will work all day, every day strictly on your craft.  Our immersive, highly disciplined professional actor training programs are designed to give you the tools for a successful career as an actor in film, television and musical theater.  All students graduate with the tools in hand to get work—including a professional reel and network of industry contacts.

What else makes The New York Conservatory different?  Read on.

“I feel so good with myself, learning things in this school that I never would have learned on my own, finding myself, being okay with who I am, being confident with my abilities, all these things I’ve really truly learned here.”

—Jacob Batalon, Class of 2016

You are a member of our community from your first contact with us.  Our faculty and staff work tirelessly to support each student’s individuality and emotional growth.  We foster a close-knit community with diverse student backgrounds so you can thrive in an experience and feedback-rich environment.

At NYCDA, each student discovers their specific strengths and weaknesses and develops an individualized plan to become the actor everyone wants to work with.  We cast our productions based on your development, not your “type.”  We believe the more you know of yourself, the more you have to offer as an actor.

The New York Conservatory’s instructors bring current industry experience to create and shape a living curriculum that is writing itself every day.  We are continually offering new training opportunities and growing our degree offerings too – in fact, in fall of 2018 we proudly welcome our first Musical Theater Performance two-year degree students.

Taught in small classroom formats, NYCDA students have more instructor time and are guaranteed to be acting in our productions.  Our students participate in the development of curriculum, and are able to participate in new era productions, on-camera, and other vehicles practical for the industry.
